Fundraising activity for LLMF during 2020 has been severely affected due to the Covid 19 pandemic. An event that has taken place each year raising a fantastic amount of money, is the Thomas Hopkins Bike Ride, organised in memory of Thomas by his friends and colleagues.

In previous years bike rides have been a full weekend event, covering hundreds of miles across the country. Obviously this was not able to happen in 2020, but the team had been training throughout the year and were keen to do an event in some way, of course being mindful of staying Covid safe and complying with any local restrictions.

This year’s bike ride took place on Saturday 26th September 2020, and as people couldn’t travel to get together for one event there were several different groups of riders in several different locations.

The main event was still held in South Wales albeit with a reduced number of riders and avoided all areas where there were strict lockdowns.

The endurance group left The Liberty Stadium, Swansea at 8am riding the 100 miles and returning there late afternoon. The group riding the 35-mile route, departed at 1:30pm and joined the 100-mile group on the final leg down the Swansea valley back to the Liberty.

The final total raised was over £5,300 which is an amazing result and we sincerely thank all the riders, supporters and sponsors for continuing their support for LLMF in Thomas’ memory.
