Who are we?

Lymphoma Leukaemia Myeloma Fund (Wales) (LLMF for short) was established in 1997. Originally known as the Lymphoma and Leukaemia Fund (Wales) the name changed in 2010 to include Myeloma. LLMF is a registered charity with a local focus and managed entirely by volunteers.

The aim of LLMF is to provide help for patients in the Swansea and surrounding areas for those suffering with Lymphoma, Leukaemia, Myeloma and associated blood diseases. We work closely with the Haematology Department at Singleton Hospital.

The type of support can be through the provision of medical equipment and/or services that are not normally provided by the NHS or Haematology Department at Singleton Hospital, Swansea.

What we do?

LLMF has supported the haematology patients and department in many different ways, from the provision of specialist items such as chemotherapy chairs or other medical equipment, to funding the development of innovative new services that after trial, are adopted by Swansea Bay University Health Board . One such project was the Community Phlebotomy Service.

The largest project we have funded to date started in 2015 and is called the Community Nursing Development (CND) project – the impact this is having on lives of our patients and their families is amazing – and without the funding by LLMF, this innovative project would not have happened.

Fundraising

LLMF raises funds from the family and friends of our haematology patients, or from generous individuals who want to support a local charity. Our registered members also support this cause through their annual subscription.

Past fundraising efforts by LLMF supporters include events such as a skydive challenge, sponsored bike rides and quiz evenings.

In 2018 we were delighted to have been chosen as the sponsored charity of St Helen’s Balconiers, benefiting from their fundraising at the annual cricket festival which is held at St Helen’s cricket ground, Swansea in June.

LLMF is managed entirely by volunteers, almost every pound raised is used for the benefit of patients in our region of Wales.
