In February this year we were contacted by Lisa Brown wanting to offer fundraising support for LLMF. Lisa explained that that two members of her family had been given invaluable support by the CND team and how grateful they have all been for this. As a token of thanks, they wanted to do something positive and thought to raise some funds for LLMF, both as a family, and as their chosen charity for 2019 for Swansea Auto Parts and Radiators.

Lisa’s first big challenge of the year was in April to take part in the iNVNCBL obstacle course race at Fonman Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. The iNVNCBL OCR series looks great fun, but has the reputation of being very challenging and often very muddy! Lisa and her friends took this challenge head on, and could be found training in all weathers before the event. Lisa explained her reason for taking on this event on her fundraising page at “Sponsor Me”.

Anyone who knows me will know that a 10K obstacle course race in muck is not my normal Saturday entertainment but I’m trying to raise some money to say “thank you” to the amazing Maria and Audra at Morriston Hospital who at the moment are entirely funded by the LLMF charity.  They are part of a small team in haematology at Morriston Hospital and have helped me and my family navigate the challenges of having two members of our family needing their help. One with CLL and one with Myeloma.  They’ve helped us make sense of common everyday illnesses, and how those with compromised immune systems needed more specific help. Without them I don’t know where we’d be today.

The funding for this team ends later this year but the charity is looking to be able to fund more positions to grow the team, and as a result be able to help many more families.

We would like to thank Lisa, her colleagues and friends for completing this great challenge and raising funds and awareness of what we do.

We look forward to hearing about Lisa’s other 2019 fundraising activities for LLMF
